“”In fourteen hundred and ninety two, Columbus sailed the ocean blue….. ”  We enjoyed doing a Columbus Day art project and reading about  Christopher Columbus.  This week in math we are working on place value to the hundred thousands.  Together  we are finishing the last chapter of Flat Stanley and are starting to write our own letter to send off with our flat selves.  Keep reading, reading, reading at home. The only way to be a better reader is to read.

We are busy this week. Family math night is Tuesday the 6th. The fun starts at 5:30 for dinner and check-in.  At 6:00 pm the math games start. It is Free.  Also this week individual pictures are on Wednesday Oct. 7th.  Finally there is no school for students on Friday the 9th.
We are starting to read Flat Stanley by Jeff Brown. We will be making our own “Flat Stanleys” and they will soon be off on their own adventures.  Check your students planner for daily homework.

We are finishing Charlotte’s Web this week. We are working on graphing in math. Picture order envelopes are coming home Monday. Pictures are Oct. 7.   Our Arcadia Fundraiser starts Monday.  Students will be bring home an envelope with the details. Thanks for your support. 

The Principal Pride winners for September were Emmy and Daniel. Principal Pride is given for good citizenship, academics, effort and improvement.  Two students ( sometimes more) are chosen each month. You will be contacted when your student receives this award so that you may attend the assembly honoring them.

This is a full week. We are reading about Charlotte and Wilbur going to the fair in Charlotte’s Web. I hope some of our students got to go to the Interstate Fair last week. We are working on a graphing  unit in math.   Dr. James Stripes is teaching chess in our classroom on Wednesday and Thursday.   Friday is crazy hat day and Principal Pride is at 10:45.  Principle Pride is for students who show good citizenship.  I pick two students each month.   Homework is Math 4 today (one line a night), reading for 60 minutes each week and daily assignments.
